Q1.

What specification does my machine need to be so I can use ACET?

A.

ACET runs on a Pentium 166, with 64MB RAM and a monitor capable of supporting screen resolutions up to 1024x768. However, we recommend a Pentium II with 128MB RAM and a 17" monitor.

Q2. Do I need to buy all the ACET products?
A.

No. ACET has been designed from the ground up to be modular. This means you only need to buy the modules you require. However, you can always buy additional modules later if you find you have a requirement for them.

Q3.

One of my asset databases is stored in MS Access while another asset is stored in an Oracle database. Which database (if any) can I use with ACET?

A.

Both. ACET has been designed on an open database structure which means it can sit above either asset database.

Q4. Some of my data (line design information) is in one database while other data (historical inspection survey results) is in another database. Can it all be imported?
A.

Yes. Data for one asset/database can be brought in from multiple sources during a client specific importation.

Q5. I already have data stored in another software package but I want to move to ACET. Is this possible without laboriously re-entering all my data?
A.

Yes. ACET has a generic data importation tool to allow conversion to be quick and easy.

Q6. I expect to have some additional information for my database (isometric drawing links to Item IDs) in the next few months. Do I have to wait until I have obtained this information before we can proceed with the data up-load? What happens if I get additional data in the future?
A.

Additional data can be imported into the ACET database at any time in the asset's lifetime. The only requirement is that the new data has some reference to one of the unique fields with the existing ACET database like the Item ID for example.

Q7. How many users can I have for a database?
A.

ACET allows as many users as you require, each with separate log on accounts and passwords.

Q8. Can I look at the data at the same time as a colleague?
A.

As long as both machines have ACET installed on them and both users have access rights to the database you can both use the same database at the same time.

Q9. I do not want certain users changing any of my data. Can I stop them?
A.

Of course. ACET has comprehensive security with unlimited levels of access that can be assigned from read only to full administration or any stage in between. If you only want a user to be able to see the data without making any changes then you set ACET security privileges accordingly.

Q10. Can I look at the same data as my offshore inspector?
A.

Yes. ACET performs remote access synchronisation as often as required where it sends any new information from the platform to onshore and visa versa. Anything prior to the last synchronisation is available to either of you and remember there can be more than one offshore user account.

Q11. Okay the remote synchronisation is fine for most instances but my offshore inspector has just downloaded the results of an inspection job into his copy of the database and I have not got time to wait for the scheduled synchronisation.
A.

No problem. Any user with the right access level can force an unscheduled synchronisation to occur at any time.

Q12. I have just noticed that a fundamental assumption that was entered about a week ago is incorrect. I know I can change this but I do not know who initially entered this and if they could have added this information in other places. What can I do?
A.

ACET has a built in Audit Trail that records any major changes done by any user in an uneditable form. This means you can interrogate the system to see who has updated (created, or deleted, etc.) any data in the last week (or month, or year, etc.).

Q13. How many images/ videos can ACET hold?
A.

The only limit to the number of images/ videos is based upon the size of the hard drive storing the images not ACET itself.

Q14. As a company we have spent a lot of time and money developing our own risk based inspection (RBI) package that is duplicated by a module in ACET. You say we don't need to buy your module but can I have the data stored in ACET driving my RBI?
A. Yes. Interface links between ACET and client software packages can be created if required. This can take the form of a one-way or two-way link where ACET sends/receives the information straight to/from the client package or through a standard medium like an Excel spreadsheet.
